Hip-Hop|Club Banger Reviews (28) [February 2012 Edition]

Off to a better start here in 2012. I wasn't able to do a February edition in 2011. So far I'm keeping my word with a fresh new February edition 2012. This is a smaller update than usual since there hasn't been that many club bangers just yet. So I'll probably recommend some blast from the past hits from the yester years.

Just wanted to do a quick shout out to everyone. I want to thank everyone for your continued support. Whether it's subscribing to my blog, listening/downloading the music, and/or donating funds to keep these blogs alive. My blogs wouldn't have made it this far without you guys/gals.

Well let's keep on dancin'.

Anjulie - Brand New B*tch ~ 125 bpm*
Release Date: May 2011

Club/Party - 4/5
The Ladies - 3/5
Lastability - 3/5

If you like Ke$ha style songs, then this is for you. This song has the same kind of style. Somewhat poppy, but pretty catchy. I would recommend mashing this up with other songs. This is perfect for it.

Recommended for casual playlists.

Crooked I - Game Time ~ 146 bpm*
Release Date: Jan. 2012

icon icon

Club/Party - 2.5/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3.5/5

Not a true club banger, but a great pre-funk track. This will get you ready and amped up for the night. Crooked I has great flows and a good message. Great audio production as well. Recommended download.

Recommended for pre-funk playlists.

DJ Felli Fel feat. Lil Jon & Jessie Malakouti - It's Your Birthday  ~ 128 bpm*
Release Date: Jan. 2012

icon icon

Club/Party - 4/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3/5

It's a club banger. Not very original and kind of repetitive. But... Great for birthdays. And it will get people dancin'. And that's what matters. You can hear Lil Jon screamin' throughout this track. But that's not new. So your probably use to it by now. Download for birthdays.

Drumma Boy feat. Rocko & 2chainz - Levi Jeans ~ 140 bpm*
Release Date: Jan. 2012

icon icon

Club/Party - 3/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3/5

This track goes hard. And for what? Levi jeans. Yeah you heard that right. Levi jeans. Not Seven jeans or some other overly priced jeans. But hard working Levi jeans. Now if you can handle that in your speaker box, then it's a definite download. Otherwise wait for another track from someone who raps about your favorite piece of clothing. I'll be rockin' my Levi jeans.

French Montana feat. Charlie Rock - Shot Caller ~ 88 bpm*
Release Date: Jan. 2012

icon icon

Club/Party - 3.5/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3/5

Play this in the lounge area. Very laid back feel. It could be a slow banger as well. It has a good vibe to it and French Montana has some good flows in this one. Put it in your playlist and mix a way.

Recommended for lounge playlists.

Jennifer Hudson & Ne-Yo feat. Rick Ross - Think Like a Man ~ 155 bpm*
Release Date: Jan. 2012

icon icon

Club/Party - 3/5
The Ladies - 4/5
Lastability - 4/5

This one is highly recommended. Even though this is more R&B than club banger. Still it can be played in a lounge setting. This is a great collaboration from Jennifer Hudson and Ne-Yo. This is what kind of songs Ne-Yo should be involved with. And Jennifer just sings her heart out on this one. Rick Ross doesn't really add anything, but he doesn't detract from the beauty of this song either.

Bueller da Don feat. Billy Marrero - One Shot ~ 82 bpm*
Release Date: Dec. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 2/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3/5

Not a club banger. This track is more of a motivational track. And it's a pretty decent one too. Bueller da Don does his thing and it's a good track to hype you up. Download if your a fan of Bueller da Don.

Radio Traffic feat. Snoop Dogg - Cali Livin' ~ 115 bpm
Release Date: Dec. 2011

icon icon

Club/Party - 3.5/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3/5

Pretty catchy hook. Reminds me of the Cali beaches and sunny weather in February. And here's a little secret. Sometimes it's rainy there during this time too. Of course Snoop Dogg would be in this track. Almost anything involving Cali he's in it. Download for some casual listening.

Travis Porter feat. Tyga - Ayy Ladies ~ 96 bpm*
Release Date: Jan. 2012

icon icon

Club/Party - 3.5/5
The Ladies - 1/5
Lastability - 3/5

What makes this track worth listening to is Tyga. Other than that it's kind of what you expect from Travis. A beat that sounds like his other one's. Nothing too original here. Tyga though. Tears this track a new one. That's all I got to say about that.

Blast from the Past

Akon feat. Colby O'Donis & Kardinal Offishal - Beautiful ~ 130 bpm
Release Date: Dec. 2008

I was looking through all the songs that I've reviewed or talked about and I only have one song from Akon. Such a shame. So I decided to add this one on your playlist if you already don't have it. Great song from 2008 and Akon continues to be one of my favorites.

Oh this track use to be one of my favorites "back" then. Especially when stunna shades were the "in" thing. Great club banger. Gets you hyped up. Need this one in your playlist.

The first link is to the original. But I bet that some of you haven't heard the remix. Which I like a lot better. The remix isn't on iTunes, but it is on YouTube. So you can just listen to it here. Francisco really makes this song shine. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Album Review

4/5

This is a pretty good album. Bueller da Don's previous album was so-so. But he really improved in this album. There are some hit and misses, but overall I recommend it. Cruise 2 Fame and Gps is two of my favorite tracks. And for the full album it is relatively cheap. Check it out.

Schoolboy Q - Habits & Contradictions (Album)*
Release Date: Jan. 14, 2012

Album Review

3.5/5

This album is very laid back. You gotta be in a lazy mood to listen to this. Not to say that this isn't a good album. Schoolboy Q talks a lot about gettin' high and gettin' some.  It's very chill and you just don't want to do anything when this album is playing. Check it out if that's your style of music.

Album Review

4/5

Here is another laid back album. I actually enjoyed The Jacka's album more than Schoolboy Q's. I think The Jacka has better production on his tracks. And he has a bit more variety then what Schoolboy has to offer. But if your looking for back to back album's to chill to. Get both of them.

Album Review

"Go Girl" is my favorite track on this album. Especially with all the guest appearances from Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean, Big K.R.I.T., and Wale. All the other tracks are kind of average. Nothing too special about any of the other tracks. Download the album if you like Yo Gotti.

Album Review

4.5/5

Mini review. There are only 5 songs on here. I'm a big fan of K'naan. Almost every song he puts out is golden. He puts out great messages through his flows. This mini album does not disappoint. I like almost every song on here. Only "Coming to America" could have been better produced. Highly recommended. icon

Album Review

4.5/5

Have you gotten into the dance craze too? Or is this the first time you ever heard of it? "WOP" came into the scene a couple of years ago. And it's still going strong with people doing the "WOP". Now that his album has just dropped, does it hold its own? It's a resounding, yes. "WOP" isn't even his best track on this album. I actually like "Tabloid Truth" or "Life" even more. He has a some really good messages in this album. Highly Recommended.

Dae Pham feat. Sao Unique - My Story by icyslick

I really want to get feedback on this track. *Constructive Feedback* Did you enjoy it? What don't you like about it? Stuff like that. So if you can leave comments on the bottom of the page or in SoundCloud itself that would be great. This is my brother's track. Keep in mind a couple of things while your listening to it. This track is almost 10 years old. He made this when he was around 14 or 15. This was made by a computer and a mic. Just think about the technology back then for recording stuff. The reason I'm putting this up is, because I think he has the talent to go further with this. He hasn't done a recording in a while, but maybe he can do it as a side project. Just let me know if you agree or disagree or want to support in anyway. Thanks a lot.
